Bearings for the big end of connecting rods rotate around the crankshaft pin in eccentric motion. Centrifugal force gets larger when speed increases, therefore, heat treated SCM 415/420 (JIS) alloy steel as cage material is used for having better fatigue and wear resistance, especially for the big end of connecting rods.
